The Dental Teams travel to Honduras each year, typically as part of the larger Brigades. Often the Dentists split their group into two teams, traveling into different areas of the country. The classic Dental team configuration is built around three American dentists. Periodically, a team can be complemented with an experienced Honduran dentist or dental student graduate. The majority of effort is in extractions, but recently we have developed techniques to perform field restorations (fillings). You do not need to be trained in the dental profession to take part! Lay volunteers can help with sterilizing instruments, assisting patients, and assisting the dentists. Join us to change others’ lives and notice a change in your life also!!

Fundamentals of the Program
- The standard Dental Team travels with the larger M.E.D. Brigade (medical, eye, & dental).
- These teams provide care in “field conditions.”
- 2006 saw the first restorative work (filling of cavities) by our dentists in the field. ProPapa was able to transport a generator and the needed drilling equipment and tools. We are anxious to compliment each Team with a restorative component. We need your help to make this a reality!
- The dentists remove damaged, diseased, and impacted teeth.
- Each Dental Team traditionally sees up to 400 patients per brigade.
- The team members typically hold an educational demonstration for each village, demonstrating proper brushing & dental hygiene.
- Every patient receives a toothbrush
- We are always looking for volunteers, such as: oral surgeons, dentists, dental hygienists, & support people who would like to share their expertise, knowledge, & love.
- ProPapa is also in need of new toothbrushes, dental supplies, instruments, and, of course, money
for equipment and supplies.
