The Medical Team is one part of the ProPapa Brigade. A typical brigade consists of medical, dental, pharmacy, and eye teams. The Medical Team treats patients for many diseases and infections, and often sees trauma cases. When necessary, we refer patients in dire need to medical clinics and hospitals, or connect them to our surgery brigades. Each year ProPapa works in different parts of the country, ranging from the mountainous regions to the coastal areas and river valleys. These teams render care in a “field environment.” ProPapa treats all patients with professionalism, always aware of our limitations and respecting the dignity of those who come for help. During a typical Brigade, over 3000 patients can be seen between the medical, dental and eye teams.

Fundamentals of the Program
- The M.E.D. Brigade (Medical, Eye, & Dental) is supported by pharmacy, field sterilization, & parasite stations.
- The classic Medical Team is built around three physicians.
- The Medical team works closely with the interpreters and Honduran coordinators to assure seamless understanding and communication with the patients
- To concentrate effort, often two complete teams enter the country and travel to different locations.
- Pharmaceutical supplies are donated via charities, hospitals, drug companies, and doctor’s offices, as well as purchased directly in the U.S. or in-country.
- We treat many dermatological diseases, infections, wound care, and asthmatic conditions particularly in children.
- Most of the disease conditions we see are the result of poverty & having little or NO access to healthcare.
- ProPapa is always in need of more pediatricians, family doctors, PA’s, and RN’s to take part in these medical brigades. PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE EXPERIENCE OF YOUR LIFE!!!
- Medical teams must have numerous lay volunteers to support the clinicians. Get involved & change a life.
